As we look at the upcoming holidays, the invitations for
the events, parties and gatherings start to arrive.  But as you
open each invitation, some you feel excited to attend and some
you hope there is a conflict in your calendar.

What’s the difference between these events and why are your
reactions to the invitations different?  Maybe one invitation is
on embossed paper with gold trim and invites you to THE GALA with
fine food and drinks.

The other is an invitation to the office gathering, which you
received through your email.

The Gala event was branded in a way that makes you want to
associate with it. It says this event, and you, are well
regarded.

You know all the people you want to be seen with will be there.
Personal branding works the same way and is essential for
success.

Personal brands are much more than a title or company name.  They
tell people about what you do and who you are.  With so many
agents in the market, how do you distinguish yourself?  You stand
out by branding.  And you brand by creating a message or strategy
that sets you apart from everyone else.

Managing a brand is full-time because everything you do
adds to your brand. Things like your credentials, testimonials
from clients, involvement in projects and business accolades
are important.

How you market properties and present yourself on the internet
(either in video or other online networks) are critical these
days.

Once you create your personal brand, and people know who you are
and what you stand for, they will come to you.

RealeFlix(R) Recipe for Creating Your Personal Brand

Makes:  Lots of business contacts and friends and as many clients
as you can manage

Time:  One day to start branding then continuing

Step 1:  Know you are CEO of you.  You are a company, you are a
business and companies need leadership. So write down what
distinguishes you from all other agents in your market.

Maybe you close more deals, have glowing testimonials, or are
client-focused.  Whatever those characteristics are, write them
down and pick the top two or three as your primary traits.

Step 2:  Structure your work around the traits you identified.
If you close more deals, then part of your branding may be your
awards.

If your testimonials glow, then maybe a 100% satisfaction
guaranteed may be your strategy. Then get more clients to
write about your work.

If you are client-focused, then teach a seminar or be on a panel
to help first time buyers understand the real estate lingo.
Build your work around what you do best.

Step 3:  Visibility, Visibility, Visibility.  You know this play
on words in the real estate business.  Get yourself seen.

Make a video greeting to let people know about you and put it in
your profile on RealeFlix.com and other sites on the web. Make
full motion videos of your listings so prospective clients can
see how you work and post them on RealeFlix and the web.

Join blogs and networks to get your name known.  Have some of
your volunteer work recognized in the local paper.  There are
thousands of ways to get visibility.

Step 4:  Create a logo or slogan.  Not just any logo will do.
One time, I witnessed an agent had a cartoon of a dancing chicken
walking across her website!  I remember the chicken, but not the
agent!

Your logo or slogan needs to align with your characteristics or
traits you identified in step one.  Get professional design help
if needed.

Step 5:  Increase your value.  This is your personal value within
your market.  Remember everything you do now helps your personal
brand.

That means how you talk and handle yourself with clients, grocery
clerks, CEO’s, office staff and everyone you meet in person or on
other networks matter.  The most successful day-by-day branding
is very selfless.  Be intelligent, respectful and helpful.

Sounds like being a Boy or Girl Scout, doesn’t it?

You are in charge of your brand.  You are in charge of the
events.

You are the one who makes it happen.
